¡EPA! Artists Support Asylum Seekers Benefit

Join us for a night of live performances, dancing, healing, and advocacy to raise funds for NYC’s newly arrived asylum seekers. Hosted by Guadalupe Maravilla & Yara Travieso with special guest Grammy winner DJ Cheo in collaboration with The Clemente and The BoriMix Festival!

There is a humanitarian crisis unfolding in New York City. Thousands of asylum seekers are arriving in NY (mostly Venezuelan) and are being used as political pawns against sanctuary cities and NYC shelters are overwhelmed. The Good Shepherd Church has become a Respite Sanctuary for immigrants arriving in NYC after complex, months-long traumatic journeys many times with children. The church is also a space for healing, safety, community resources, English classes, and more. However, it is in desperate need of funds & resources to continue the humanitarian work of feeding, housing, clothing, and reuniting families.

Artist Guadalupe Maravilla has been working with the church’s Pastor, Juan Carlos Ruiz throughout the pandemic to bring funds, resources, and healing ceremonies to newly arrived asylum seekers. Maravilla has teamed up with fellow Cuban- Venezuelan artist Yara Travieso to host an evening of healing ceremonies, live performances, and a dance party with The Clemente as part of The BoriMix Festival happening this November!

The fundraiser tickets are $25, with the option to Pay-What-You-Can to ensure that cost is not a barrier to entry. For folks who cannot accomodate the $25 ticket, we encourage you to bring gently worn coates for the coat drive.

---100% of the proceeds will go directly to newly arrived asylum seekers. Guests can also bring coats to donate. We hope to see you there!
