Since 1987 the Loisaida Festival has been the largest community celebration festival event in Lower Manhattan, and grows annually in size, excitement, and impact. The festival is produced by Loisaida Inc., a local, historic community development arts & culture organization founded in 1978. We represent and continue to celebrate the thousands of working-class immigrants and migrants over the 19th and 20th Century that settled in the Lower East Side. It also epitomizes over four decades of struggle and success of the Puerto Rican and Nuyorican diaspora and highlights its artistic contributions and grass-roots innovation to the cultural fabric of New York City as a whole.
