The Historias Festival will be a collaborative celebration of Latinx New York’s lasting impact on shaping the metropolis. Envisioned for the year 2025, the festival will rely on fact-based research, including oral histories and document preservation and digitization, to present a series of commissioned works that will constitute a journey into the stories that were lost as interpreted by artists. An archival documentary website will memorialize the programming, attendant projects, collaborations and family guides. While the commissions will focus on artistic interpretations of fact-based research with selected anchor partners (8-10) from the consortium, the programs will ultimately expand to the participation of all members and touch on music, performance, visual arts, literature, and even cuisine. The works will be led by LxNY and The Clemente.
