Title: Project Manager

Status & Hrs: Part-time, 20-25 hours/week, flexible schedule

Rate: $40/hr 

Reports to: LxNY Steering Committee


LxNY: Latinx Arts Consortium of New York is a network formed by 40+ Latinx-serving cultural organizations based in New York City dedicated to knowledge exchange, resource-sharing, and collective action towards systemic change. LxNY aims to transform the historical underfunding of Latinx arts by advocating for the equity-driven missions of our cultural institutions, nurturing our deep relationships with community, and stewarding our hard-fought legacies into the future. LxNY honors the expertise of our multigenerational arts leaders and culture bearers, harnessing their collective experience to better serve the city’s diverse cultural landscape.

LxNY seeks an energetic and organized self-starter with 3+ years of project management experience in nonprofit or for-profit arts organizations. Qualifications include excellent writing and communication skills, financial management expertise, and proficiency in Google Suite and Zoom. The ideal candidate should be familiar with cultural equity initiatives, bilingual (English/Spanish), and experienced in programming, event planning, and fundraising. The Project Manager will assist and coordinate LxNY's forthcoming advocacy project, fundraising efforts, and facilitate the upcoming Historias Festival, while providing regular progress reports to the Steering Committee.

This job is a hybrid between remote and in-person work, candidate must be based in NYC.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in project management for nonprofit or for-profit arts organizations

  • Excellent writing, research, strategic, and communication skills

  • Solid financial management skills, including fundraising, budget preparation, analysis, and decision-making

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with arts organizations, funders and/or government agencies

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing several projects simultaneously

  • Adept at writing proposals, donor correspondence, and assembling fundraising and advocacy materials

  • Proficient with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar, and Groups) as well as Zoom

  • Well-versed in cultural equity initiatives and contemporary Latinx arts in the US, and the landscape of BIPOC cultural organizations

  • Demonstrated experience in programming and the ability to generate creative ideas that lead to successful outcomes and experiences for festival attendees

  • Experience in event planning and management of arts and cultural events and programs

  • Fully Bilingual English/Spanish a must (reading, writing, speaking)

Responsibilities,

Reporting directly to the LxNY Steering Committee, the Project Manager will:

  • Serve as the LxNY Network leader responsible for administrating, coordinating, and managing the Consortium’s programming, taking into consideration LxNY advocacy, fundraising, and budgeting

  • Coordinate the implementation of strategic programs and initiatives with the LxNY Network that move LxNY’s mission forward and create momentum for the future

  • Schedule and coordinate meetings with outside stakeholders, including foundations and other potential funders

  • Attend and participate in LxNY Steering Committee biweekly meetings and the LxNY Network gatherings every trimester

  • Take notes and track follow-up tasks from Steering Committee meetings

  • Co-develop diversification of funding strategies with the Steering Committee, services to the network, and liaise with lead researchers contracted by LXNY

  • Identify new funding opportunities through contributed or earned revenue initiatives

  • Support the Communications Manager and Advocacy Subcommittee by drafting, executing, and implementing all necessary legal agreements, waivers, and contracts for collaborations with Network organizations and outside stakeholders

  • Update the extended network on elected official decisions and DCLA's latest news that serve or affect the LxNY Network members and their organizations

  • Facilitate the calendar benchmarks for the new Historias Festival, which reflects the overall ethos of the festival

  • Help develop and implement the public roll-out strategy of the open call, selection panels and project management of the Historias Festival pre-production phase in tandem with the Curatorial Committee and Think Tank of Advisers

  • Report on the development and progress of the festival pre-production at regular Steering Committee meetings

Benefits:

  • 20 - 25 hours a week

  • The rate for this position is $40/hr

  • This position is a hybrid between remote and in-person work, candidate must be based in NYC

  • Hours are mainly weekday mornings and some weekday evenings to assist programs & LxNY events

  • 3 months contract with a potential 6-9 months extension to a Full-Time contract

  • Networking access to a large cohort of Latinx-focused leading NYC organizations
